Admissions

Thank you for your interest in TMSA Triad Elementary School!

We are a tuition-free public charter school focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math (STEAM) in Greensboro, North Carolina. We currently serve more than 500 students from kindergarten through 5th grade on our campus.

We do not discriminate against students on the basis of sex, national origin, ethnicity, religion, disability, academic, artistic, athletic ability. We are an open enrollment school and admit any child who qualifies to attend a public school in North Carolina regardless of the school district the child resides in.

HOW TO APPLY

New families are required to submit an initial application due to the limited spots available in our schools.

Please note that the initial application is for new students only. Current students at TMSA Triad Elementary School do not have to go through the initial application each year. Current TMSA students wishing to re-enroll are given an “Intent to Return Form” to complete and submit electronically to the school every year in the stated time frame.

We are accepting applications until student capacity is met. However, due to the high demand for our school, we recommend new families to apply to the school between December and mid-February for the upcoming school year.

Applying is simple, fast, and free. When you click the link below, you will be prompted to select the school of your choice.

INFORMATION NIGHT

We are looking forward to welcoming you and your student to our information night. Visiting our schools is a great way to get a true sense of the culture, curriculum, and student life at TMSA Triad Elementary School. Our passionate faculty and dedicated administration team help you explore TMSA firsthand before you make your final decision.

LOTTERY PROCESS

We receive hundreds of applications every year beyond the number of seats available at any grade level. We conduct a lottery in February to fill the seats in a fair and equitable way. Our lottery is publicly undertaken and may be attended virtually by any member of the public.

We randomly select names or numbers through PowerSchool registration software. Once all available seats are filled, a waitlist will be established by listing the students in the order drawn. Multiple birth siblings (twins, triplets) will enter the lottery as one name or number, parents only need to submit one application. If that name or number is selected, then all of the multiple birth siblings shall be admitted. Additional siblings applying to TMSA Triad Secondary School at the same time MUST complete a separate application. Late applications after the scheduled lottery will be placed on the bottom of the waitlist.

TMSA gives enrollment priority to qualified applicants to fill the available seats ahead of applicants without priority status. The eligible applicants, in the order listed, are:

1) children of employees and governing board members (by law, these students cannot amount to more than 15% of the school’s total enrollment) and,
2) siblings of enrolled students (by law, siblings include half-siblings, step-siblings, and children residing in a family foster home).

TMSA provides a "weighted lottery" process to students who meet the economically disadvantaged criteria. This process is separate from the general lottery process and families who do not qualify or choose to not participate will not have their chances in the general lottery altered. If you would like to be considered for this opportunity, please indicate "Yes" on the initial application. For more details about the weighted lottery process, please contact the school.

The lottery results are emailed to the winning applicants.

ENROLLMENT

Applicants who receive a seat at TMSA Triad will need to accept their seat and to complete the necessary documents to enroll within the given two-week period. If the applicant does not notify the school of its acceptance of admission on time, the applicant will be deemed to have declined admission, and the first child on the waitlist will be offered admission.

The following items are needed in order to complete the enrollment process. You MUST communicate with the enrollment office if you need additional time to submit registration documents.
